When I first attended Neil's workshops I knew very little about photography – I just pointed and clicked and hoped for the best. I soon learnt that aperture priority and shutter priority were the most important settings. Added to these, understanding how to use ISO, white balance and exposure compensation could vastly improve a photograph. Then there is the rule of thirds, a law (loosely) that I'd never heard

of previously.

These are all technical issues, the science of photography if you like, but then there is an art of photography, picture composition. This is maybe the most important, but can be the most difficult to achieve. Neil's workshops have proved invaluable and vastly improved my photography, but still there is much to be learnt - a long way to go yet!
